On Saturday, October 7th come celebrate one of the central coast’s premier events: the 36th annual Morro Bay Harbor Festival. Attendees will be able to indulge in some of the freshest seafood; in fact, there will be an abundance of oysters, shrimp, BBQ albacore, rockfish, and chowder. The festival will also feature races and watercraft demonstrations in the Bay as well as lively musical entertainment. Admission is free for all, so do not miss this sea-lovers festival!
Expect to enjoy music from the best entertainment around. All of the musicians will perform on the Dan Reddell Stage, which is located at the center of the Embarcadero. The lineup for this year’s live entertainment includes:
· 10:00am: Bear Market Riot (Power Folk)
· 11:15am: Shirt Shack Hawaiian Shirt Contest with Neal Farrell
· 12:15pm: Noach Tangeras (Americana Folk Rock)
· 1:45pm: Giovanni’s Oyster Eating Contest with Gio DeGarimore
· 3:00pm: Guy Budd Band (Blues)
· 4:30pm: Zongo All Stars (High Energy Afro-Latin)
The festival will also include many family-friendly activities that everyone can partake in. For instance, there will be a baiting demo, a fish display, a touch tank, a commercial net being made, and many more interactive and educational events. There will also be the highly popular Hawaiian Shirt Contest where you can flaunt your favorite flower shirt and compete for a first, second, or third place award. Lastly, you can put on your stretchy pants and compete in Giovanni’s Fish Market’s “Down the Hatch” Oyster Eating Contest. The three contestants who shuck and slurp the most oysters will win great prizes.
