Get the Party Started!: Tips for Your Wedding Playlist

About 2 year(s) ago by Allegretto Vineyard by Ayres

A great wedding should definitely capture all the romance and intimacy you and your partner share, but it should also be fun. What is the best way to ensure you and your guests enjoy the festivities? The answer is simple: a great music playlist for your reception. Below are some tips for creating the perfect playlist for your wedding.

Most weddings include guests with very different musical tastes. For instance, your eight-year-old grandfather probably will not appreciate the same songs as your eleven-year-old niece. To appease everyone, it is best to include a variety of different musical genres from various decades. This way, everyone will have something that will get them to the dance floor.

Ask Your Guests for Recommendations

When you send out your reply cards, you can request your guests to submit a song they enjoy. You can add the songs to your playlist so that you have a compilation of music you know will appeal to others.

Start the Dancing Early

At most weddings, the dancing does not begin until after the cake is served. But if you want a livelier reception, you can start the music shortly after the main course is served -- or even earlier if you prefer. You can temporarily stop the music when it is time to make the toasts or any other speeches, but after that, let the dancing continue!

Stack the Dance Floor

As the bride or groom, you will be likely to sway members of your bridal party to commence the dancing. If you pre-plan for some of your friends or family to initiate the dancing, when your other guests see this, they will be more likely to join.
