Low on cash this holiday season? Luckily, you don’t have to empty your wallet to give your family and friends thoughtful, homemade Christmas gifts. Below are five homemade gift ideas that will put a smile on your loved one’s face without breaking the bank.
Holiday Coffee Sleeves
A perfect gift for the coffee lover in your circle. You can fashion a cute christmas sock or small sweater sleeve into a reusable sleeve for a to-go coffee cup. After washing the fabric, cut a three-inch section from the sock or sweater sleeve. You can then embellish the sleeve or sock with buttons or other Christmas decorations. Slip it onto a to-go cup and wrap it up!
Framed Tablet Stand
A homemade tablet stand is the ideal gift for the cook in your family. To create the base, cut one long end of a 5x8 inch block at an angle with a table saw so a picture frame of your choice can be mounted to it. Make sure the frame you select is slightly larger than your tablet. Then, cut a ½ inch bevel that will hold the tablet at an angle (at approximately 18 degrees). Paint the base, then attach the frame to the stand with wood glue, secure it with clamps, and let it dry.
For your friend with the hectic schedule who usually has a bowl of cereal for dinner. Buy two mason jars and fill one with pasta and the other with pesto, or another pasta sauce of your choice. Embellish the jar lids with festive ribbon and place them in a small basket.
Personalized Tea Cup and Saucer
If you know a tea fanatic, then they will love filling a hand-decorated tea cup and saucer with their favorite tea blend. Purchase a plain ceramic cup and saucer and decorate it using some ceramic paint -- it’s fun for you too!
Purchase two plain, white pillowcases and some stencil and fabric paint. Monogram the pillowcases for a personalized gift that your loved one will enjoy cozying up to!
