Things to do Near Paso Robles Beyond Wine-Tasting

About 3 month(s) ago by Allegretto Vineyard Resort by Ayres

Looking for things to do while visiting Paso Robles? There’s so much more to do than indulging in fruit of the vineyard. Before you go, check out some of our favorite things to do near Paso Robles besides wine tasting…

Explore Paso Robles Pioneer Museum

This museum showcases the natural and cultural history of life in a small California town during the 19th and 20th centuries. They offer an interesting collection of historical literature, displays, and exhibits. There’s also an old windmill on the grounds, reminiscent of the farmers who used them to source water. The museum is open Thursday thru Sunday from 1:00- 4:00 p.m. and admission is free.

Enjoy Olive Oil Tasting

Paso Robles specializes in California produced olive oils and if you’ve never tasted fresh-pressed EVOO, you’re in for a treat. We Olive is located in downtown Paso and offers a unique olive oil experience or you can venture out into the farm land and visit some olive oil makers themselves, including Kiler Ridge Olive Farm, Alta Cresta, Olea Farm, Pasolivo and more. There’s a full list of olive oil growers and producers in the Central Coast.

Dine in a Mediterranean-Inspired Restaurant

There are plenty of restaurants to choose from in Paso, but you should definitely take time to dine at Cello Ristorante & Bar. Located at the Allegretto Vineyard Resort, this celebrated restaurant offers a delightful culinary spread of rustic farm-to-table, northern Italian cuisine. After dinner you can relax on the patio with iron fire bowls and enjoy a game of bocce ball with family or friends.

Drive to the Beach

Take an epic drive down Highway 46 to the seaside town of Cambria. Located about 40 miles from Paso, Cambria is famous for its dramatic costal landscape. Moonstone Beach offers breathtaking views along a one-mile beach boardwalk where you can enjoy sea otters, dolphins and whale watching in season. This little town is full of character, complete with distinctive shops, historic architecture and downtown art galleries.

Visit Hearst Castle

Located 10 miles down the road from Cambria is the famous Hearst Castle. This architectural gem stands among the coastal hills as a California landmark, known for its refined beauty and idyllic location. In 1919, William Randolph Hearst set out to build a true American castle on 250,000 acres of land. Today you can tour this unforgettable castle. Tickets start at $25 for adults and $12 for children and reservations are a must.
