The former home of newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst is about 30 miles from Allegretto Vineyard Resort. Without question, it is worth the trip. You will have your choice of several dining options at Hearst Castle. The Chief’s Galley Café offers everything from soups and salads to Asian dishes like teriyaki chicken and sweet and sour tofu. Fresh sandwiches and hot and cold beverages are on the menu at La Cuesta Coffee Shop & Snack Bar. And during the summer, you can enjoy a grilled chicken or steak sandwich with a side of coleslaw at Camp Hill BBQ.

Not only can you book your tour ahead of time, it’s a wise thing to do as Hearst Castle tours fill up fast. You’ll be able to purchase your tickets as far as 56 days in advance. If this is your first visit, it’s recommended that you go with the Grand Rooms Tour. It provides you with a basic overview of how William Randolph Hearst and his guests lived. Also, this tour has the fewest number of stairs.
